The Diversified Scholars Initiative was founded in 2015 by Dr. David Jamison, IV. Our mission: to reverse the trend of minority students dropping out of STEM education programs in disproportionate numbers, and to ensure their success as they move through higher education and into professional careers.
We do this by supporting STEM scholars at every level – from K-12, to undergraduate, graduate and faculty. Part of our work is to advocate for support systems and infrastructure that minority STEM students need to ensure their success. In the long term, our goal is to make America’s pool of STEM faculty and professionals more diverse, more representative of the U.S. population, and better able to compete on the global scale.
